Holy grail wheels

This section is dedicated to the rarest of the rare, highly sought after wheels. Some of these picks will be based off of some of the more popular wheels everyone in the community loves. Some of these will be personal picks, wheels i stumbled across in my catalogs that I believe are worthy of the title. All pics will be sourced from our personal collection of catalogs and books. This list will grow with time and corrections will be made as we learn more. Thanks you for visiting!

Rarity scale explained. 10/10= never observed a real example. 9.75/10, observed 1 or 2 real examples. 9-9.5 have observed a few examples. 8-9 have observed several examples. below 8, often available for grabs.

AC Courreges ACH

The Courreges line up is full of rare wheels, but out of all of them the ACH seems to be the rarest. Available from 87-89, The ACH was available in mostly smaller sizes. Appears like there were 2 color options, the one seen above and a raw finish. This was also the last wheel designed and sold by Courreges.

PCD: 100/110/114.3 4H

Sizes: 14 6J, 13 5.5J, 12 4.5J, 10 4J

Rarity rating: 9.75/10 I have only seen 1 example

Advan A3E

A favorite among many collectors. Appearing in our 82 and 83 catalog, the A3E had a extremely short run compared to most of the other Advan wheels of the time.

PCD: 114.3 4H

Sizes: 14 6J, 13 6J

Rarity rating: 8.5/10 Although very rare, I'm sure with a large budget and dedication you can get your hands on a set.

Big Man JR.

If you thought getting ahold of 6 lug Big Mans was hard, the JR. takes that to a whole different level. Appearing in our 84 and 85 catalog, the JR. had a very short run.

PCD: 100 4H

Sizes: 13 6j, 13 5.5J

Rarity rating: 10/10 If a set of these ever pops up for sale, I'm grabbing popcorn. It'll be a slaughter.

Dego

The Lepone staff Dego is a wheel with a 1 of a kind design. Appearing in only 1 of our catalogs from 88. This wheel is kind of a mystery. I hope to find out more in the future.

PCD: ? not listed in our catalogs. 4H/5H

Sizes: 15 5J-9J, all widths in-between available

Rarity rating: 9.75/10

Dome W-1

The Dome W-1s design comes from the famous Dome Zero concept car. Its a shame the car never made it into production, but at least these wheels did. Appearing in our 81, 82, 83, and 84 catalogs. This ultra rare wheel is truly an awesome piece of automotive history, who doesn't want a wheel that was supposed to appear on an 80s super car?

PCD: 110/114.3

Sizes: 14 7J, 14 6J, 13 6J

Rarity rating: 9.5/10

Effect

The Bridgestone Effect, a wheel I've personally dumped hours into researching. But sadly never found anything. appearing in our 87 and 88 catalogs, the Effect had a really short life. "The "Effect" wheel was created for High Soka, based on the Motif of the Good Wave Myth"

PCD: 114.3 4H/5H

Sizes: 15 6J, 15 6.5J

Rarity rating: 10/10, If you have any info regarding this wheel please reach out.

Nevada

The Nevada is a personal favorite of mine, the 6 spoke star design is extremely unique compared to most other star wheels of the time. Appearing in our 82, 83, 84 and 85 catalogs. The Nevada had a pretty good run, but i assume didn't sell well due to all the other star wheels available at the time. The sizing options were very diverse, a size was available for everyone.

PCD: 100/110/114.3/120 4H

Sizes: 14 8J, 14 7J, 14 6.5J, 14 6J, 13 5.5J, 10 4J

Rarity rating: 8/10 I almost won a set of these towards the end of 2024 but lost the bidding war, I have seen a couple sets around.

Rays X-Ray

What i consider to be the best tri spoke ever made. the X-Rays design isn't just about looking good, it also serves a purpose. There are several paths for air to enter and escape to keep the brakes cool. Appearing in our 86, 87 and 88 catalogs the X-Ray had a pretty short run sadly.

PCD: 100/114.3 4H

Sizes: 15 7J, 15 6.5J, 15 6J, 14 7J, 14 6.5J, 14 6J

Rarity rating: 9.75/10

Thinker-1

The Thinker-1 appears to be a 1 year only wheel, only appearing in our 86 catalog. The super unique design really stuck out to me, with specs that catered to old Hondas. WIth a lot of digging on the internet, I have stumbled across very old pics of this wheel mounted on cars. Which is a rarity when I'm looking into these ultra rare wheels.

PCD: 100 4H

Sizes: 14 6J

Rarity rating: 10/10

Superstar Beetle S-1

The Beetle S-1 was apart of a 2 wheel line up Superstar sold from 84-87. The other wheel being the Beetle M-1, which was more of a basic mesh design. The Beetle S-1 seems to be a must have for a lot of collectors. I think my favorite part of this wheel, is the small beetle logo stamped on the face of the wheel.

PCD: 114 4H

Sizes: 14 5.5j 6j 6.5j 7j 7.5j 8j 9j 10j

Rarity rating: 9.5/10

Superstar SS07

The Superstar SS07, quite possibly the best looking wheel Superstar ever sold. The SS07 was available in the early to mid 80s. Having multiple color options, as well as a 5 lug variant. the SS08. Plenty of sizes to choose from as well.

PCD: 114 4H 5H

Sizes: 13 14 15 5.5j-10j

Rarity rating: 8.5/10

Meteor M3

The Meteor M3, available in the early 80s. A unique 6 spoke 3 piece wheel that stood out. Sadly it seems this wheel never got popular, possibly due to its limited sizing. There was a FF variant of this wheel, a less aggressive 1 piece design.

PCD: 114 120

Sizes: 14 6j 6.5j 7j

Rarity rating: 9/10

Devil Japan Flying Max

The Devil Japan Flying Max, a well known brand but completely unknown wheel model. only appearing in our 84 catalog, the Flying Max is a pretty mysterious wheel. I hope to see a real example of this wheel one day. definitely a wheel i need to dig more on.

PCD: 114

Sizes: 14 15 6j-8j

Rarity rating:  10/10

Devil Japan Shadow Spoke

The Devil Japan Shadow Spoke, extremely popular amongst small wheel fans. it seems everyone wants to get their hands on a set. Available in the early 80s, the Shadow Spoke offered so many different sizes and variants. FF variant, 10 inch variant, 3 piece variant, and even a 5 lug variant.

PCD: 114 ? 4h 5h

Sizes: 10 13 14 15 4.3j-13j

Rarity rating: 7/10

Hayashi Bomber

The Hayashi Bomber, one of Hayashi's many desired wheels. Available in the early 80s. There was actually a 5 lug version available as well. Having almost a completely different design. It shared the same gold color, but was a 5 spoke design instead of 6. The 5 lug version is pretty much unobtainable.

PCD: 110 114 120

Sizes: 13 14 6j-7j

Rarity rating; 8.5/10

Alpha Soul Racing

The Alpha Soul Racing, only appearing in our 84 catalog. A super cool snowflake style design. Available in gold and silver. Shame these are so rare.

PCD: 114 4H

Sizes: 14 6j-8j

Rarity rating: 9.5/10

Southern Ways Glid

The Southern Ways Glid, quite possibly the best mesh wheel ever created. This waffle was available in the early 80s with good sizing options. I have observed that the 13 and 14 inch wheels share different designs. The wheel seen above is the 14 inch version. The 13 inch is pretty similar, with the middle square spokes being all filled in and the outside rectangles being more square shaped. I definitely prefer the 14 inch version.

PCD: 110 114 120 4H

Sizes: 13 14 6j-8j

Rarity rating 9/10

Southern Ways War

The Southern Ways War, another super cool and unique Southern Ways wheel. Available in the early 80s as well, sadly there's not much info around about these. Maybe i haven't dug deep enough. Hope to get more info on these in the future as well as see real examples.

PCD: 110 114 120 4H

Sizes: 13 14 6j-7j

Rarity rating: 9.5/10

Bertone Leprotto 1059

The Bertone Leprotto 1059. Seemingly the rarest wheel Bertone designed. Available from 81-84. The 1059 only had 1 size option. This is the only Bertone wheel that I've never seen a real example of. Even after hours of digging. hope a set of these pops up eventually, really wanna see them on a car.

PCD: 112 114 120 5H

Sizes: 14 6j

Rarity rating: 10/10

Autopista DRY

The Autopista DRY, a favorite directional wheel amongst many. Normally I use the 4 lug version of wheels for this section of the website, but i wanted to use the 5 lug version for the DRY. Mostly due to the fact that most people don't know a 5 lug version exists. Available in the mid 80s, the DRY was offered in silver and white. The transparent center cap stands out as a really unique trait.

PCD: 114 4h 5h

Sizes: 14 15 6j 6.5j

Rarity rating: 9.25/10

Riverside Super River

The Riverside Super River. The most stylish brake cooker. Available in the early 80s, the super river is a ultimate dream wheel for a lot of collectors.

PCD: 110 114 120

Sizes: 13 14 5.5j-10j

Rarity rating: 9.25/10

Riverside Pegasus Dish

Riverside Pegasus Dish

The Riverside Pegasus Dish. Riverside had a line of Pegasus wheels seemingly available from 84-87. The dish stood out amongst the line up, as the other wheels were basic designs like mesh or fin. Available in good sizes, its a surprise to me this wheel wasn't more popular.

PCD: 114 4H

Sizes: 14 15 5.5j-8.5j

Rarity rating: 9/10
